SCMC was invited to attend and speak at the Belt and Road International Legal Services Forum
From March 30 to 31, 2025, the Belt and Road International Legal Services Forum was held in Xiamen. Mr. CHEN Wenqing, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission; Ms. HE Rong, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Minister of Justice; and Mr. ZHOU Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. WANG Zhenjiang, Vice Minister of Justice.
The forum invited approximately 300 participants, including legal professionals, arbitrators, and commercial mediators from 25 Belt and Road countries and regions, as well as key officials from judicial departments (bureaus) of various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), relevant political and legal institutions, and academic experts. The event yielded practical outcomes in building legal consensus, promoting mutual legal understanding, and deepening legal cooperation.

As one of the earliest professional organizations in China dedicated to commercial mediation, the Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (SCMC) was invited to speak on the topic of “Trends in the International Development of Commercial Mediation and the Chinese Approach.” Ms. TANG Liming, Executive Director of SCMC, shared SCMC’s practical achievements in high-quality development of Belt and Road commercial mediation services, in the context of the Singapore Convention on Mediation. The presentation was well received and widely recognized by attendees.

Looking ahead, SCMC will accelerate the innovation and development of international commercial mediation services, striving to establish a prestigious global reputation for China’s commercial mediation. It aims to contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative by promoting harmony and mutual benefit.
