
Seminar on "Current Status and Prospects of International Dispute Resolution Methods" Successfully Held
On March 4, 2026, the seminar "Current Status and Prospects of International Dispute Resolution Methods" was successfully held in Osaka, Japan. The event was hosted by the Osaka Bar Association, co-organized by the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and jointly supported by the Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (SCMC), the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), the Japan International Mediation Center (JIMC), the General Private Mediation Center, and the Japan Arbitrators Association (JAA).
Mr. Motohiro Yamane,attended the seminar on behalf of SCMC and delivered a keynote speech. With 20 years of experience in Sino-Japanese legal services, Mr. Yamane started with a comparison of the commercial dispute resolution systems of the two countries. Combined with China’s first Regulations on Commercial Mediation, he elaborated on the positioning, practical achievements and development prospects of commercial mediation in China’s judicial system. He pointed out that Chinese commercial mediation institutions represented by SCMC, with mature experience in litigation-mediation connection, competitive fee and service standards, and in line with the core demand of commercial entities for "harmony and win-win results", can play a greater role in the field of international commercial dispute resolution.

The seminar was held both offline and online, attracting nearly 100 distinguished guests, including senior lawyers, corporate legal counsels and representatives of the local business community in Osaka. During the interactive session, participants had in-depth exchanges on topics such as the practice of commercial mediation in China, detailed implementation rules of the Regulations on Commercial Mediation, and cross-border mediation cooperation between China and Japan, reflecting strong attention to and willingness for cooperation on China’s alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
