On June 25, 2026, the launch ceremony for the Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (SCMC) Malaysia Service Station was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur. Supported by the Asian International Arbitration Centre and the Malaysia-China Legal Cooperation Society, the event attracted nearly one hundred representatives from business associations, enterprises, and professional service institutions from both Malaysia and China.

As one of China's first independent institutions dedicated to professional commercial mediation, SCMC has specialized in the industry for fifteen years and continuously advanced its international layout. In 2025, it was recognized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese as a “Service Provider for Cross-border Disputes Involving Overseas Chinese.”

The newly established Malaysia Service Station is SCMC's fourth overseas stations following those in Germany, Japan, and Spain. It aims to provide more enterprises with efficient, non-confrontational dispute resolution channels and serves as a positive practice of commercial mediation participating in the "Belt and Road" legal "soft connectivity" construction.

Relying on the Malaysia-China Legal Cooperation Society, the service station has assembled a professional mediation team led by a group of senior Malaysian legal experts. Meanwhile, the station integrates think tank resources from multiple fields such as law, accounting and auditing, and engineering construction, radiating the entire ASEAN market to provide enterprises with one-stop commercial dispute resolution services and supporting assistance.

At the launch ceremony, SCMC signed a cooperation agreement with the Asian International Arbitration Centre. The two parties will cooperate in areas such as rule mutual recognition, joint mediation, and professional training. On-site, nearly forty enterprises and institutions signed the "Mediation First" commitment, jointly advocating for the resolution of commercial disputes through mediation.

During their stay in Malaysia, the SCMC team was also invited to visit the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Court Mediation Center, the Malaysia-China Business Council, and other units. They exchanged opinions on topics including cross-border commercial legal cooperation, litigation-mediation linkage mechanisms, and the alignment of bilateral trade rules, building multi-party consensus on safeguarding economic and trade cooperation through the rule of law.
