On June 8, 2023, Wu Jianyong, Party Secretary and Director of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice led the heads of relevant departments to the Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "SCMC") for research and visited the work office of the Mediation Center.

Since its establishment, SCMC has been aiming at the highest standards and the best level, adhering to the institutional orientation of specialization, internationalization, standardization and marketization. SCMC actively explores the innovation and practice of the diversified dispute resolution mechanism in Shanghai, strives to give full play to its own functional advantages, in order to serve Shanghai's construction of "Five Centers", and help the development of the business environment. Director Zhang Wei gave a detailed report on the work of SCMC in recent years to Director Wu Jianyong and his delegation.

 Sun Jianping, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Services Federation and Director General of SCMC, remarked that the development of SCMC conforms to the needs of the construction of business environment in the new era and new trend, and is the epitomer of the progress of the city's rule of law construction soft power in recent years. He expected that SCMC continues to make more efforts to participate in the relevant work organized by Municipal Bureau of Justice, and actively assumes legislative work to promote the vigorous development of the legal services in Shanghai.

Director Wu Jianyong pointed out that mediation is an effective way to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instruction on putting the alternative dispute resolution mechanism in front, and that strengthening the construction of legal service industry is an important force in the Shanghai's construction of "Five Centers". The Municipal Bureau of Justice will continue to support SCMC to take the path of professionalization, marketization and internationalization, continuously improve the institutional innovation of diversified resolution mechanism, strengthen the publicity mechanism of "Mediation First", further play the active role of commercial mediation mechanism in the construction of business environment, and participate in the construction of Shanghai International Legal Service Center in a more active manner.
