SCMC was invited to participate in the ADBI’s International Mediation Meeting
From February 18th to 19th, 2025, SCMC Director Ms. Zhang Wei and Vice Chairman Mr. Chen Naiwei were invited by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) to participate in the “Policy Dialogue on Alternative Dispute Resolution: Disseminating International Mediation in Asia and the Pacific” in Tokyo, Japan. The event was co-hosted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Asia-Pacific Regional Center, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the ADBI, and the Japanese Ministry of Justice.
The conference invited government officials, judges, professors, dispute resolution lawyers and representatives of institutions from nearly 30 Asia-Pacific countries. More than 200 people participated online and offline, and SCMC was the only Chinese commercial mediation institution invited to attend and speak.
SCMC Vice Chairman Mr. Chen Naiwei gave a speech on “The Development of Commercial Mediation in China and Actions in Promoting Ratification of the Singapore Convention”, sharing China's efforts and achievements in exploring the ratification and implementation of the Singapore Convention on Mediation and practical experience in promoting the development of commercial mediation in China. Mr. Chen Naiwei speech was highly praised by the moderator, Mr. Thomas Clark, General Counsel of the Asian Development Bank.

ADBI was established in Tokyo in 1997 as a think tank affiliated with ADB. It is dedicated to policy research, capacity building and knowledge sharing to promote sustainable economic growth and social development in the Asia-Pacific region. SCMC’s being invited to this meeting represents ADB's attention to and affirmation of the development of commercial mediation in China.
