SCMC and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Successfully Held a Cooperation Signing Ceremony

On the morning of June 18, 2024, the cooperation signing ceremony between Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (“SCMC”) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (“CCIS”) was held in Shanghai. Mr. Vladimir Đelić, Deputy Secretary General of CCIS, Ms. Jelena Grubor Stefanović, Director of the Representative Office of the Chamber of CCIS in China, Ms. Zhang Wei, Director of SCMC, Ms. Li Haige, Deputy Director of SCMC, Mr. Zhu Hongchao, Deputy Director of SCMC, and other heads of departments attended the event.

At the signing ceremony, Ms. Zhang Wei and Mr. Vladimir Đelić signed the cooperation agreement and gave each other’s gifts.

Ms. Zhang Wei and Mr. Vladimir Đelić introduced the basic situation of SCMC and CCIS respectively, acknowledging that the China-Serbia FTA will enter into force in July this year, which puts forward higher requirements for the commercial dispute settlement mechanism. China and Serbia, among the first to sign  the Singapore Convention on Mediation, will focus on playing positive roles in the diverse mechanism of dispute settlement and jointly serving the high-quality development of China-Serbia bilateral trade.

This cooperation is an important initiative for SCMC and CCIS to explore the connection of mediation and business association and to innovate service models. According to the agreement, both sides will jointly promote practical cooperation in the field of commercial mediation, focusing on mediation services, mediation training, promotion of mediation and other aspects, to build a win-win bridge for Chinese and Serbian enterprises, and work together to serve and protect the economic and trade between the two countries.
