SCMC and CEDR Explore New Mechanism of Sino-British Joint Mediation
On July 10, 2024, Wei ZHANG, Director of Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (SCMC), and David CHEN, Vice President of SCMC, led a delegation to visit the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the United Kingdom.

As the most influential mediation institution in the UK, CEDR plays a pivotal role in mediator training, case handling and enhancing the influence of commercial mediation, etc. Director Wei ZHANG, David CHEN and Liang HONG, Vice Director of Financial Committee of SCMC, had a thorough communication with CEDR's Chief Executive, James Soth, and Director of Training and Consultancy, Suzanne Schuler, on how to fully utilize the advantageous resources of commercial mediation in both China and the UK to elevate the level of international commercial dispute resolution.
The two parties also reached consensus on establishing a Sino-British international commercial joint mediation mechanism, launching international commercial mediator training courses, and strengthening the interconnection and mutual training of mediators from both sides.
