Shanghai Overseas Intellectual Property Service Station(Tokyo)

 is officially launched


    In order to actively implement the important deployment of the central government to build a competitive intellectual property country, under the guidance and support of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center (SCMC) cooperates with King&Wood Mallesons (KWM) to expand the overseas intellectual property services of Shanghai in Tokyo, Japan. In the afternoon of March 15, 2023, the launching event of the Shanghai Overseas Intellectual Property Service Station (Tokyo) (Tokyo Service Station) was successfully launched at the Tokyo office of KWM.

    The launching event was hosted by Tianhua Chen, head of Tokyo Service Station and KWM lawyer. Chen Yu, Deputy Director of SIPA, congratulated the launch of the service station online. Mr. Yu pointed out that the establishment of the Tokyo Service Station was beneficial for deepening exchanges in the field of intellectual property between China and Japan, promoting more Shanghai enterprises to strengthen their awareness of intellectual property protection and improve their protecting capabilities.

    During the discussion, Director Zhang introduced the intention of Shanghai establishing an overseas intellectual property service station and the main service of the station. Representatives of several well-known Chinese invested enterprises in Japan actively exchanged practical thoughts on their business in Japan, the similarities and differences in intellectual property systems between China and Japan, and the expectations on the establishment of Tokyo service stations. More than 20 professionals, including intellectual property lawyers, company legal professionals, and media reporters, participated in the event. With lively atmosphere, the event achieved positive results.

    SCMC firmly believes that the launch of the service station will lay a solid foundation for deepening cooperation and exchange in the field of intellectual property between China and Japan, expanding the opening up of the intellectual property field to the world, building a system for preventing and controlling risks related to intellectual property, and actively maintaining and developing a multilateral cooperation system for intellectual property.
